It's a different process, not just a gentler version of pressure washing.

Apply

A cleaning treatment is applied at low pressure — think of an angry garden hose pressure.

Dwell

The treatment sits on the surface for a set time, breaking down moss, algae, lichen and grime at the root rather than just knocking it off.

Rinse

We low-pressure rinse the now-loosened growth and residue away — pressure isn't doing the cleaning here, it's just clearing the result.

Inspect

We check the surface to confirm coverage, especially in shaded patches where growth is heaviest.

Soft washing vs pressure washing

Same goal — a clean surface — but the mechanism, the risk profile and the surfaces they suit are different.

Pressure washing

  • Cleans through force — high-pressure water physically strips dirt off the surface
  • Best suited to hard, non-porous surfaces built to take impact: concrete, pavers, exposed aggregate
  • Can strip paint, coatings and sealants off softer or painted surfaces
  • Can force water behind tiles, cladding and render if used incorrectly
  • Removes visible growth but not always the roots, so regrowth can be quicker

Soft washing

For the surfaces it's designed for — roofs, render, solar, painted surfaces — yes, and it lasts longer because it kills growth at the root rather than just blasting off what's visible. It's not a substitute for pressure washing on things like driveways, which need force rather than chemistry.

You'll usually see the surface come up clean during the rinse stage, but the treatment keeps working on any remaining spores for a few days afterwards, which is part of why regrowth is slower.
